GED COMPLETION – CAREER TRAINING
YOU Program – Youth Opportunities Unlimited
I am the Youth Education Coordinator for the YOU Program at the Blue Water Center for Independent Living in the Port Huron office. Helping to assist consumers in achieving personal independence.
The YOU Program offers a multitude of services to help youth work towards their GED credential at their own pace. One of the main barriers to employment is lack of proper education. In our generation High School or GED credentials are vital to gainful employment. With this in mind the YOU Program offers personalized tutoring, study guides, text books, official GED pretests, two internet ready computer stations, counseling and more. Upon completion we offer a formal graduation ceremony including cap and gown, announcements and invitations. We know getting started can be a difficult process, and the YOU Program can help. We offer a wide range of financial supports and incentives.
The YOU Program offers much more than the chance to earn your GED credential. We teach the skills you will need to find a job and get that job through our career training and higher education portion of the program.
These are just a few of the services available to youth in the program.
Are YOU eligible?
Youth must be between the ages of 16-21, out of school and a resident of St. Clair County, Michigan. Youth must also meet one or more of the following; be low income, deficient in basic literary skills, homeless, runaway, foster child, pregnant or parent, an offender, and/or an individual with a disability.
Must enroll to get these benefits so come in and see us today!
